Now that we have seen how much it costs to burn yourself out – think about your staff.
How much is the company paying for salaries and benefits?
How much are you shelling out for sick leave? The employee gets paid even if he or she isn’t working – because this was part of the package.
What projects wind up at risk? What are the costs for delays?
- If you are thinking, “oh, it’s an internal employee” – take that hourly amount you are paying for that employee and multiply by the number of hours of lost production. Because that is what you or your company are actually paying to get the project done.
What is your employee churn rate? How much are you spending to onboard new employees?
What is the productivity drop as you onboard those new employees?
Put numbers on these.
Per employee.
