With any change, there are two sets of desired behaviors you wish to see from people within the organization:
- The behaviors you wish to see and reinforce
- The behaviors you wish to remove
This is true, even if it is unclear that there are related behaviors that require changing.
Is there a new technique you need your maintenance team to perform?
Is there a different vendor with whom you need to develop a relationship?
Are there templates that require changing?
Make both sets of these behaviors explicit.
Provide replacement behaviors for the behaviors you wish to remove.
Develop reinforcement mechanisms for the behaviors.
Write them down somewhere. Share them with others.
